Who Is She:

Kyndra Barker is a self-published author from Southern Ohio. Even though she is pursuing a college degree in Graphic Design, she has also taken to writing in her free time, trying to pursue her childhood dream of being an established author.

Writing has always been one of the most important hobbies that Kyndra has ever taken part in. It has always been her way of feeling heard, and alongside that, her way of being able to express her own creativity.

When she’s not writing, Kyndra is either playing Roblox with her younger sister, listening to her favorite band Waterparks way too loud in her car as she cruises through town with her windows down, or she’s completing a 2000-word essay for one of her English courses that she procrastinated doing until the night it was due (because she doesn’t like to be put into a box when writing).

Her interests may be a wide spectrum, but through everything, her mind always wanders back to her characters that she created when she was only in the 4th grade. Whether she’s playing through scenes in her head, typing out fragments of dialogue in her Notes app, or reading some of her favorite fantasy and romance books for inspiration; there is always room for literature in Kyndra’s heart.

Awards:

Even though she is new to being a published author, Kyndra has actually already won awards for her writing prior to publishing her first novel “All My Mistakes”.

In her youth, Kyndra had been a 4-H Member, and even though she took breeding animals to fair when she was younger, as she grew older she realized that there was something more that she wanted to get out of her 4-H projects.

Showing animals wasn’t her scene, but what had been her scene was completing non-livestock projects and taking them to fair. She landed on a project that fit one of her favorite hobbies; a writing project titled “The Writer In You”.

Kyndra took that same 4-H project for 7 years in a row, hoping to build herself a portfolio that she could look back on and take inspiration from later on; and she did just that.

Winning 1st place 6 out of her 7 years taking the project, she stepped out of her final year of project judging not knowing that “The Writer In You” was going to be eligible to be competed with for the first time at the State level.

After taking her project to the Ohio State Fair, she came home that afternoon with the 1st place Clock Trophy and an Outstanding of the Day title (top 20 percent in each category).

In such a competitive environment, Kyndra managed to sway the judges by showcasing a sole piece from the 10 activities in the project, which had later turned into the final chapter of her now-published novel, “All My Mistakes”.
