“All My Mistakes”

Volume 1:

About:

‍ ‍In a society that is divided between those with mystical abilities and those who have nothing special to give… A happy, satisfying life is hard to find.

Alan Comet, an ordinary 12-year old boy, resides on the streets of his hometown without a family, friends or even a roof over his head to keep him dry and warm.

While dodging school bullies and the killer glares of his peers, trying to keep himself fed and steering away from the guiding arms of two police officers that have tried to take him in time and time again; Alan has struggled to understand his role in society, and ultimately, to find his purpose. Though, after Alan meets another boy from his school, Casey Alexander; a similarly alone kid who has fallen in with the wrong crowd of friends at their middle school; he is brought out into the sunlight.

Is this connection and comfort between him and his newly-found friend real or is it all just in his head? Would someone truly give the time of day to a broken, lonely kid like him, or will his past mistakes continue to haunt him and leave him all alone once again?

From the Author:

" Writing has always been my way of expressing my thoughts and emotions, especially in the categories of my life that I had never felt heard. That is what this book is.

It's nothing but a combination of my thoughts and creativity, showcasing my own joys, fears and everything in between through the story of these characters who hold shards of my own soul.

Each of my characters hold a piece of me, and that's something that is really beautiful about what I have created, "

" I've always wanted to help other people, that's something that I have always known I wanted to do. Even if my book only resonates with one person in this world, knowing that my writing was able to help that one person is enough for me.

I've taken my own, entirely real, fears and I've plastered their essence across the plot and storylines of these characters and made them into something real and coherent that can pass through the message I want to get across of looking for your own 'somewhere better' and finding a reason to work through whatever your hardships are, no matter how badly they may drag you down.

'Somewhere better' is something that I've coined within my own writing for a long time now. It's a phrase that originated from a specific unreleased poem of mine, that ironically, I'm still struggling to finalize.

Maybe I don't know where my own "somewhere better" is, and maybe that's why I haven't been able to complete the poem; but I do know what it means to me to try and find that place and make it my home.

I think that being able to have hope for something is one of the most beautiful things in life; being able to wish and to dream, and just knowing where you want to go. We lose hope so easily, especially nowadays, and I know it's hard to keep your hope that there is somewhere better out there for you, "

" If I can't convince anyone of anything, I want them to at least hear me say that you have to try and live. Live for yourself, live for your family, live for your pets, your neighbors or your friends. Live for tomorrow, live for today. Find something or someone to live for, because anyone can become your everything, and I know my everything is enough for me in my darkest times to keep going.

That's something that I really tried to convey within my book 'All My Mistakes', "

Ever wonder what music Alan and Casey would listen to?

After you jump into Kyndra’s newest novel, “All My Mistakes”, check out two playlists that she’s taken the time and fun in compiling in her image of what music she believes her characters would enjoy listening to based on her own personal playlists.

(Notice: Just as this book is, these playlists are intended for a Young Adult audience. Some of these songs incorporate explicit lyrics and/or dark themes related to various sides of mental health. Take caution into listening if you are sensitive to these topics.)

"I think Alan would like bands like Green Day, valuing unique styles and voices of the vocalists while clinging onto bands that he was introduced to by Casey; though I think as his style develops more on his own, he’d fall in love with bands with the style of My Chemical Romance. He definitely values passion and lyricism. He’d love powerful builds into the final choruses, though also a deeper and inspirational meaning behind every line of whatever he’s listening to.

That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t like some of the more upbeat and fun ones, though he’s definitely a sucker for impact tracks.

He would definitely have a connection to the song “Helena” by My Chemical Romance and be happy every time it would start playing on his playlist. That would be his favorite song, and it’s definitely a top track of mine."

"I definitely see Casey's character listening to some music that's a bit more aggressive and expressive at times, though still valuing the quality of the music itself. He definitely cares a lot about the instruments; freaking out when a guitar riff is really powerful or there's a really cool sounding drum solo. Though even with that, I think when he's at his calmest state and listening to music just for the pleasure of it, he'd be really into the style of bands like Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Three Days Grace.

It's brought up in the novel, but his favorite band, and definitely his comfort band, would be for sure be Green Day.

I swear by ‘Are We The Waiting / St. Jimmy’ being his favorite song in my image of him in my mind."
